In response to the difficult economy, Colorado Ballet has created a special program, Feed the Soul, which will run through the Company's final two productions of the 2008-2009 Season. Colorado Ballet will be offering $10 tickets. Throughout the run of both A Midsummer Night's Dream (Feb. 28- March 14) and The Repertory Series (March 7-14), there will be a total of 50 tickets offered for each performance at the special $10 price.
"We believe that art is important in good times, and perhaps ever more important in difficult times," said Colorado Ballet Executive Director Jack R. Lemmon. "By providing these deeply discounted tickets at each and every performance this spring, we hope that Colorado Ballet will play its own part in stimulating both the economy and the soul."
Colorado Ballet's ticket prices run as high as $129, but in this challenging economy the Company wanted to offer something special to the community. With 15 performances between the two productions, this is a total of 750 tickets offered at this deeply discounted price.
In addition, Colorado Ballet is collaborating establishing its first food drive, asking . patrons to bring canned food to donate at each performance. Colorado Ballet is pleased to partner with The Gathering Place in this endeavor.
The mission of The Gathering Place is to support women and their children who are experiencing homelessness and poverty by providing a safe daytime refuge and resource for self-sufficiency. The Gathering Place is Denver's only day-time drop-in center for women and their children.
"The community sustains and nourishes Colorado Ballet and now it is time for the Ballet to help sustain and nourish the community," Lemmon said. 'We hope that those attending our performances will help us help rebuild the food banks which have been running bare in response to this unprecedented need."
The $10 tickets will go on sale two hours prior to each performance at the Ellie Caulkins Box Office located in the Denver Performing Arts Complex. Patrons must request the special $10 ticket offer. Colorado Ballet anticipates the 50 tickets at this low price to go fast, so patrons wanting the special $10 ticket offer should plan to get there early! There is a limit of two tickets per person at the special $10 price.
