Alyssa Velasquez
Alyssa Velasquez was born in Denver, Colorado where she began learning gymnastics at an early age. She started ballet training at Lynn’s School of Dance to help out with gymnastics classes. Velasquez trained at the Colorado Ballet Academy from the ages of 6-17, at which time she graduated from the Academy. Velasquez was then offered an apprenticeship by Martin Freedman, and the following year under the directorship of Gil Boggs, was promoted into the Company. With Colorado Ballet, Alyssa has worked with many amazing choreographers such as Darrell Grand-Moultrie, Christopher Wheeldon, Lila York, Shelley Washington, Edwaard Liang and Dwight Rhoden. During her time with Colorado Ballet, Velasquez has danced many Corps de Ballet roles and has just recently started dancing and soloist roles. Her favorite and most notable roles include Clara in
The Nutcracker and Amor in
Don Quixote.
