Based on Boston Ballet’s “Adaptive Dance” program and supported by the Anna and John J. Sie Center for Down Syndrome at Children’s Hospital Colorado and the Global Down Syndrome Foundation, the Be Beautiful Be Yourself Dance program provides 30 weeks of dance classes to 30 students ages 5-14 with Down syndrome.
Instructors work closely with Children’s Hospital Colorado's renowned physical therapist and Down Syndrome expert Pat Winders to build kinesthetic and cognitive skills through locomotor movements that incorporate shapes, rhythm, and basic dance steps. Be Beautiful Be Yourself Dance programs now being held at Colorado Ballet's studios. Participating children now have the opportunity to observe the professional company in rehearsal after their own class.
