Colorado Ballet Academy’s Winter Workshops are back for the 2023/2024 Academy Year! Explore the options below and find something that challenges, inspires, and excites you this Holiday season.  

Students outside CBA are encouraged and welcome to attend all workshops! If you have questions regarding level placement, please contact academy@coloradoballet.org

nutcracker dance camp

December 11–12, 2023 (Ages 3–7)
Everything you love about The Nutcrackerup close and personal! Traverse your way through the Kingdom of the Sugarplum Fairy as you experience each lively variation that visits sweet treats from around the world. Create crafts along the way to remember this magical adventure.

NEW YEAR'S ADULT WORKSHOP

January 3–4, 2024 (Beginner, Intermediate/Advanced) 

Experience the joy of ballet at any age! 

Colorado Ballet Academy is offering a special adult winter workshop for beginning, intermediate, and advanced dancers ages 18+. This workshop is a great opportunity to build community, learn from world-class ballet instructors, and improve your technique, artistry, and musicality.  

Reasons why our Adult Winter Workshop is right for you: 

  • Improves flexibility: Ballet requires a great deal of flexibility, and regular practice can help you to improve your range of motion in all of your major muscle groups. This can help to reduce your risk of injury and improve your overall quality of life. 
  • Tones muscles: Ballet is a full-body workout that works all of your major muscle groups. This can help you tone your muscles and improve your body composition. 
  • Improves balance and coordination: Ballet requires a great deal of balance and coordination, and regular practice can help you to improve these skills. This can help to reduce your risk of falls and improve your overall physical function. 
  • Improves posture: Ballet teaches you to stand up straight and maintain good posture. This can help to improve your appearance and reduce your risk of back pain and injury. 
  • Reduces stress: Ballet is a form of exercise, and exercise is a great way to reduce stress. Ballet is also a creative activity, and creativity can also help to reduce stress.  
  • Improves mood: Ballet is a fun and enjoyable activity, and regular practice can help to improve your mood and boost your self-confidence. And don’t forget about the new friends and community built!

  • Beginner Level: Adult students who are new to ballet or prefer to work in a slower paced environment.  
    Intermediate/Advanced Level: Adult students who have a minimum of 3 years of committed ballet training.

class descriptions

Stretch & Pilates: Stretch and Pilates class will utilize exercises focusing on correct posture, alignment, improving flexibility and range of motion in all of the major muscle groups. The class will also include some exercises to strengthen the core, leg, foot, and arm muscles, while improving balance and stabilization. 

Ballet Technique: A daily ballet class that reestablishes placement and proper form, focusing on musicality and physicality. 

Variations: Variations class will focus on the sequencing and choreography of cherished classical variations from beloved ballets. Experience your favorite ballet from a new perspective this year! 

Jazz: Jazz class focuses on developing skills in musicality, alignment and expression through jazz dance. The warm-up and progressions in class allow students to release stress and harness their power in a fun and playful environment.

NEW YEAR'S dance camp

January 4, 2024 (Ages 3–7) 

Ring in the New Year with a magical winter themed dance camp! Our youngest dancers will participate in an imaginative ballet class, explore the magic of winter and create themed crafts. Whether they are brand new to ballet or have some experience, this camp is designed to spark creativity and nurture a love for dance.

NEW YEAR'S back to ballet workshop

January 4 & 5, 2024 (Levels 1–2) (Ages 7–9)

Encourage your child to take their ballet technique to the next level with Colorado Ballet Academy’s Back to Ballet Workshop! Each class has been created with care to set their body and mind up for a year of success with exercises designed to strengthen their ballet fundamentals and promote mental wellness. 

Elementary: CBA Levels 1–2 (Ages 7–9)
Young students will work on core strength through creative and fun exercises, experience a short ballet class and unveil their inner artistry when they create their own dance inspired by Colorado’s winter scenery.

NEW YEAR'S WORKSHOP with madame olga

January 4–6, 2024 (Levels 3–PPD) (Ages 9–20)

Special guest artist Madame Olga will help students jump into the New Year! Madame Olga will work with Intermediate/Advanced students to bring a stronger sense of mindfulness to their dancing. Beginning with a workout, students will take a deep dive into core strength, alignment, and stamina to prepare and build confidence for the busy semester of ballet ahead.
