TEACHING ARTIST

Jen Anderson began studying dance at age 3 in the Denver metropolitan area. She danced at a few studios in Littleton before finding her home at Colorado Dance Center for 9 years. During her time at Colorado Dance Center, Jen participated in the studio’s company program and volunteered as a student assistant. She’s had the privilege of studying various forms of dance, including ballet, pointe, lyrical, jazz, and modern. Jen went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she started as a dance major; after experiencing an injury, she switched majors and transitioned to teaching dance. For the past decade, Jen has taught various forms of dance at Storybook Ballet in Madison, WI, Foothills Park & Recreation District and South Suburban Parks and Recreation in Littleton, CO, and Dream Dance Studios in Lakewood, CO. Jen believes in teaching the foundations of technique and dance terminology while also using dance as a means of self-expression.

Outside of dance, Jen has two bachelor’s degrees in journalism and communication arts and a master’s certificate from the University of Denver in creative nonfiction writing. Jen is an editor and writer, and she enjoys practicing yoga, hiking, painting, and baking sweet treats.
