Renu (Ré) Gupta

TEACHING ARTIST

Renu (Ré) Gupta was previously the founder/artistic director of Bollywood West, Colorado’s first Bollywood & Indo-western dance studio and company, as well as Miraas Aerial Dance. She came to Colorado from NYC, where she danced with Bollywood Axion, Ballet Arts at City Center, Djoniba Drum & Dance Center, and PeriDance. As a youth, she attended multiple seasons of the Interlochen Center for the Arts, as well as training at home, in Ann Arbor Michigan. Since then, Ré’s work has been featured in USA Today, MSNBC and the Associated Press.

She has been a guest artist for Dr. Deepak Chopra, University of Denver, and various schools around the country. Her choreography has been performed worldwide in over a dozen countries as the showstopper dance finale of Up With People (2008-14), and on the red carpet of “Slumdog Millionaire.” In addition to her technical dance training in both western, vernacular, and world/cultural styles, she is a Zumba instructor and Hot Hula fitness instructor, with AFAA Group Fitness certification, lending kinesiology and exercise science to her dance experience. In addition to her outreach and teaching with the Colorado Ballet, she works in hip hop activism through The FunKinetic Project and their Disciples of Funk events.
