Sara Thomas is originally from Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She began her ballet training at the age of 12 with Metropolitan Ballet Academy under the direction of Lisa Collins Vidnovic, Natalya Zeiger, and Denise D’Angelo. While in school, she was selected by Roy Kaiser to perform in Pennsylvania Ballet’s The Nutcracker as Spanish. Sara spent summers training with BalletX, Washington Ballet, and Atlanta Ballet. Sara competed in YAGP and attended Regional Dance America where she won several full scholarships to summer programs.

She joined Colorado Ballet’s Studio Company in 2012. Sara then danced with Nashville Ballet under the direction of Paul Vasterling for a few seasons. In 2015, she returned to Colorado Ballet and joined the Studio Company, where she had the opportunity to perform some of her favorite ballets with the Company. Sara was promoted to the main Company as an Apprentice in 2017 and then to the Corps de Ballet in 2019. In 2021, Sara choreographed an original piece, Embrace It or Erase It, on the Company.

Sara's selected roles and ballets include Fairy Godmother and Winter Fairy in Ben Stevenson’s Cinderella, Sinfonietta by Jirí Kylián, Domani from Nine Sinantra Songs by Twyla Tharp, Second Pas de Deux in Petit Mort by Jirí Kylián, Demi-Soloist in Theme and Variations by George Balanchine, Pop Corn Girl and Curly Cues in Wizard of Oz by Septime Webre, Harlots in Derek Deane’s Romeo and Juliet, Crystals, Marzipan, Russian, Spanish, and Frau in The Nutcracker, Little Red Riding Hood and Jewels in The Sleeping Beauty, George Balanchine’s Serenade, Fairies and Braves in Peter Pan, Princesses in Yuri Possokhov’s Firebird.
