Colorado Ballet Academy students in Levels 1 through our Pre-Professional Division have the extraordinary opportunity to participate in the annual full-length classical ballet production at the magnificent Ellie Caulkins Opera House in downtown Denver in May. Each class is featured in age appropriate original and adapted choreography in ballets such as Swan Lake, Coppélia and Giselle. The experience of being a part of a large-scale production gives students countless lifelong skills, an ultimate sense of accomplishment and comradery along with the thrill of telling a story through dance.

Ballet Level 3 students increase their commitment and begin training for pointe shoe readiness and progressed male’s training. Additional attention is paid to proper extension of the legs, shaping the feet and upper body positions. Repetition and retention are emphasized with increased difficulty in barre and center work as students work to develop movement sequences, port de bras, balance, musicality, and imaginative artistry.
First year Ballet Level 3 Females add 30 minutes of Pre-Pointe training. Second year Ballet Level 3 Females add 30 minutes of conditioning and increase their Pre-Pointe training to 60 minutes per week.
Male’s in Level 3 First Year should register for Level 3A, while Male’s in Level 3 Second Year should register for Level 3C. In Level 3A and 3C, students receive specialized male training, which is tailored to address the unique requirements of male ballet technique. These classes focus on ballet fundamentals, emphasizing clarity in positions and strengthening the core and back, while also laying the groundwork for male's virtuosic technique.
Ballet Level 3 students are eligible for participation in Colorado Ballet Academy’s Youth America Grand Prix and Denver Ballet Guild programs.
No Level 3B Females for 25/26 Season.

Students in Ballet Level 3 are given the option to add Level 3 Modern.
Level 3 Modern will introduce techniques of Limon, Horton and Graham as students begin to explore composition and improvisation. Modern dance classes emphasize the exploration of movement principles and techniques characteristic of the genre. Participants learn to connect with their bodies and explore concepts such as contraction, release, suspension, fall and recovery, and weight transfer. Level 3 Modern class will culminate with a showcase performance in May.

Ballet Level 4 students begin a deeper study of the fundamentals of ballet and an understanding of the commitment to excellence. Barre and center work combinations become more advanced as students work on sequences, transition steps and stamina. Students in 4A begin to work en pointe at the barre, in the second semester, while students in 4B progress to incorporating center work en pointe.
Ballet Level 4 intermediate males receive specialized training during Intermediate Male Technique class. Tailored to the unique needs of male ballet technique, students continue to work on ballet fundamentals emphasizing clarity in positions, and core and back strength, as they learn the foundations for male virtuosic technique.
Jazz and Modern dance are included in Ballet Level 4 curriculum as essential forms of dance training needed to develop well rounded dancers. In their Jazz classes, students will learn jazz terminology and technique while giving them an opportunity to grow as performers. Students will use this technical base to explore a variety of jazz styles, including classical, musical theater, jazz funk and lyrical/contemporary. Modern dance classes emphasize the exploration of movement principles and techniques characteristic of the genre. Participants learn to connect with their bodies and explore concepts such as contraction, release, suspension, fall and recovery, and weight transfer. All Jazz and Modern classes culminate with a showcase performance in May.
