Diversity & Inclusion

Colorado Ballet reserves the right to review and amend this policy to ensure that we are adequately promoting inclusion and diversity.

BLACK LIVES MATTER

We stand with all people who mourn together with and for the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Rayshard Brooks, Elijah Mcclain and countless others who have lost their lives and otherwise suffered due to systemic injustice. Not only do we join the many ballet companies across the nation speaking out for justice, but Colorado Ballet will continue to do its part to ensure that racial inequity is not tolerated within our organization.

Colorado Ballet firmly believes in equity, inclusivity, diversity and accessibility and will continue to work to eradicate institutional racism while continuing to foster the beautiful art form of ballet for all people. We stand in solidarity with Black and Brown people, and we will continue to stand for unity, equity and justice.

Colorado Ballet continues to evaluate actionable ways in which the organization ensures racial equity, diversity and inclusivity. The company will reexamine all operations of the organization to identify ways in which Colorado Ballet can improve opportunities, policies and training to ensure a fair and equitable future for all.

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION POLICY

Colorado Ballet recognizes that diversity and inclusion help to support creativity and innovation. We are stronger, more credible and more effective when our workforce, company and academy includes individuals with backgrounds, cultures and traditions that reflect our nation’s rich diversity. We are committed to encouraging diversity and inclusion and want to ensure there is no discrimination in our company. We want our company to be one in which every employee, artist, student and teacher feels respected and equal.

To that end this policy provides a framework of equality and fairness for all involved with Colorado Ballet. It expresses our commitment to not discriminate on the grounds of age, disability, gender, gender reassignment, marital status (including civil partnerships), race, ethnic origin, color, nationality, national origin, religion or belief and sexual orientation. In addition, Colorado Ballet advocates for the use of inclusive and person-first language in all relevant circumstances to continue fostering a culture of inclusivity and a sense of belonging. We oppose all forms of discrimination.

This policy applies to all employees and people involved with our organization.

All employees, whether part-time, full-time or temporary, will be treated fairly and with respect. Selection for employment, as well as access to opportunities for promotion, training or any other benefit will be made on the basis of aptitude and skills. All employees will be encouraged to develop their full potential and the talents and resources of the workforce will be fully utilized to maximize the creativity and success of the company.
