Denver, CO (March 21, 2025) – Colorado Ballet’s 2024/2025 Season will close with seven performances of MasterWorks at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, April 11-20, 2025.

This season, MasterWorks includes a trio of highly acclaimed works—George Balanchine’s Serenade, Jiří Kylián’s Petite Mort, and Twyla Tharp’s In the Upper Room, featuring live music performed by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra.

“Each year, it’s a pleasure and an honor for the artists of Colorado Ballet to present a variety of repertoire by renowned world-class choreographers that support our commitment to artistic innovation and excellence,” stated Artistic Director Gil Boggs.

“As the culminating production of the season, MasterWorks is always a treat to look forward to, both for the dancers and for ballet lovers new and old. This is a must-see performance.” declared Boggs.

Colorado Ballet’s MasterWorks is generously sponsored by the Denver Ballet Guild.

MORE ABOUT THE REPERTOIRE

The program opens with George Balanchine’s Serenade, his first original ballet created in the United States, which breathes movement into Tchaikovsky’s “Serenade for Strings” and remains fresh and inspiring with each performance of this iconic expressive neoclassical choreography.

Jiří Kylián’s Petite Mort poetically interprets one of the most intimate moments of human experience through witty and ironic contemporary choreography, set to two of the most famous piano concertos by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Closing the performance with rhythmic melodies by composer Philip Glass, Twyla Tharp’s transcendent and exuberant contemporary work In the Upper Room showcases a diverse range of choreographic styles that will leave you stomping your own feet!
