Children’s Division classes are for children ages 1 ½ through 7+ years of age. Classes in this division include Parent Tot, Creative Dance 1, Creative Dance 2, Pre-Ballet 1, Pre-Ballet 2 and Ballet Level 1. (Ages 1 ½-3 with a Parent or Guardian) Specifically designed to instill the joy of movement and music at a very young age while developing the special bond between you and your young dancer. Parent Tot emphasizes gross motor skill development, coordination, balance, imagination and socialization in an encouraging and nurturing environment. For the benefit of students attending this class we request only one adult per student.
(Ages 3-4) Students of all genders will be introduced to the concepts of body and spatial awareness as well as imaginative use of movement and musicality. Students begin identifying basic forms of movement through dance games, songs, music and rhythmical patterns. Important skills missed during the pandemic will be emphasized such as sharing, socializing with peers through shared interests and developing a much-needed sense of community.
(Ages-5-7) Students of all genders are introduced to beginning concepts of ballet including turn out, coordination, spatial awareness and class etiquette. Students continue to use their imagination to foster artistry with a focus on musicality and self-expression while increasing their movement vocabulary. These classes will serve as a healthy and supportive artistic outlet for your budding dancer.
(Ages 7+) Ballet Level 1 boys and girls learn the beginning fundamentals of classical ballet. Class will focus on basic ballet technique, proper body alignment, French terminology, musicality and imaginative artistry. Students will be introduced to elementary barre and center work, and boys will learn conditioning specific to boys’ technique. This class is offered once a week. Ages 7+ as of October 1.
