DENVER -- Nov. 4, 2021 – Colorado Ballet’s beloved production of The Nutcracker will be performed live for the first time in two years with a return to the Ellie Caulkins Opera House this holiday season. Colorado Ballet’s special 60 years +1 presentation of The Nutcracker is presented by PNC Bank and will include 26 in-person performances that run from Nov. 27 through Dec. 24 with live music featuring the Colorado Ballet Orchestra.

The performances will debut new sets and costumes created especially for Colorado Ballet by renowned designers Thomas Boyd and Holly Hynes. From embroidered floral details to delicate snowballs of frosty tulle, to hand-painted embellishments and impressive armatures, the stunning artistry of Colorado Ballet’s new sets and costumes is not to be missed.

“After 16 wonderful years of performing in sets and costumes originally fabricated in 1986, Colorado Ballet is thrilled to premiere its very own production this year,” said Gil Boggs, artistic director. “We are incredibly thankful to our brilliant designers Thomas Boyd and Holly Hynes, and our many fantastic scenic and costume makers from around the country, for bringing this spectacular production to life. We look forward to sharing our new Nutcracker with audiences in-person at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House this holiday season.”

A sellout every year, this magical tale of Clara, the Nutcracker and the Mouse King will feature the same choreography that delights audiences each season.

This year’s performances of The Nutcracker will feature five different casts featuring the talented Artists of Colorado Ballet.
