Colorado Ballet Academy students in Levels 1 through our Pre-Professional Division have the extraordinary opportunity to participate in the annual full-length classical ballet production at the magnificent Ellie Caulkins Opera House in downtown Denver in May. Each class is featured in age appropriate original and adapted choreography in ballets such as Swan Lake, Coppelia and Giselle. The experience of being a part of a large-scale production gives students countless lifelong skills, an ultimate sense of accomplishment and comradery along with the thrill of telling a story through dance during Memorial Day weekend.
(Ages 9+ by placement) Ballet Level 3 students increase their commitment and begin training for pointe shoe readiness and progressed men’s training. Additional attention is paid to proper extension of the legs, shaping the feet and upper body positions. Repetition and retention are emphasized with increased difficulty in barre and center work as students work to develop movement sequences, port de bras, balance, musicality and imaginative artistry.
