2022-2023 elementary division
fall classes

Colorado Ballet Academy students in Levels 1 through our Pre-Professional Division have the extraordinary opportunity to participate in the annual full-length classical ballet production at the magnificent Ellie Caulkins Opera House in downtown Denver in May. Each class is featured in age appropriate original and adapted choreography in ballets such as Swan Lake, Coppélia and Giselle. The experience of being a part of a large-scale production gives students countless lifelong skills, an ultimate sense of accomplishment and comradery along with the thrill of telling a story through dance during Memorial Day weekend.

BALLET LEVEL 2

(Ages 8+ by placement) Boys and girls are invited to Ballet Level 2 after they have demonstrated a full understanding of the previous level. Body alignment, muscle awareness and focus will determine progress. Ballet Level 2 students explore expanded skills in the fundamentals of ballet technique, proper body alignment, French terminology, musicality and imaginative artistry while increasing movement, strength and flexibility. Second year Ballet Level 2 students add Conditioning to their curriculum to enhance muscle awareness and core strength.

Level 2 curriculum will include an introduction to tap technique and terminology to help build skills in musicality, sound clarity, speed, and style. Tappers can expect to learn double and triple time steps, 3 & 5 beat riffs, turns, and intricate rhythms. Tap will be included once per week for 30 minutes as part of Level 2 Ballet Technique. This fun and immersive addition to their ballet class will help students become more well-rounded as they continue to advance through the Academy’s levels and associated curriculum. Students will have the chance to demonstrate their tap skills during the showcase performance in May.

Boys Ballet Level 2: Boys attend Boys Beginning Ballet on Mondays plus one additional technique class and its corresponding tap class per week. Current students register for the class based on their evaluation. New students, please contact the office for placement.
