A five-production season to take place at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House

Denver, CO (February 12, 2025) – Colorado Ballet’s Artistic Director, Gil Boggs, announced the 2025/2026 Season at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Celebrating Colorado Ballet’s 65th anniversary, the company will present five productions with music performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra—Dracula, The Nutcracker (Presented by PNC Bank), The Great Gatsby (Presented by Mary Ellen and David Wright), A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and MasterWorks.

“I am thrilled to announce the five productions planned for Colorado Ballet’s 65th Anniversary Season at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House,” stated Artistic Director Gil Boggs. “Our current season has seen our company performing stronger than ever and I couldn’t be more proud of our artists who pour their hearts into every single performance. Not only did we just present the Rocky Mountain Regional Premiere of Casanova to great acclaim, but we’re also experiencing a banner year with very successful runs of Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker.”

Colorado Ballet’s artistic leaders and executive director look forward to sharing even more world-class ballet with our community next season. “Starting with Dracula in the fall, Colorado Ballet continues to expand its programming to include audience favorites alongside new and innovative ballet productions, fresh interpretations of classic works, and world premieres of new commissions,” stated Executive Director Sameed Afghani.

  • Colorado Ballet will open its 2025/2026 Season with nine performances of Dracula, October 3–12, 2024 at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. The return of Colorado’s cult favorite promises all the spine-chilling drama and dark screams of this classic gothic love story set in 19th century Transylvania, based on the novel by Bram Stoker. With choreography by Michael Pink and Philip Feeney’s original score performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra, Dracula's return to the Mile High City illuminates the spooky season for audiences craving a thrilling adventure.

  • From November 29–December 28, 2025, The Nutcracker returns to the stage for Colorado Ballet’s 65th season to delight audiences of all ages. This timeless tradition and audience favorite captures the festive spirit of the season, replete with mischievous dancing mice, sweet Sugar Plums, a symphony of swirling snowflakes, and Tchaikovsky’s beloved score performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra.

  • Continuing to bring new and innovative works to Denver, Colorado Ballet presents The Great Gatsby, January 30–February 8, 2026. Originally scheduled to appear at The Ellie in 2021 during the pandemic, this new ballet will make its long-anticipated premiere at Colorado Ballet, transporting you back to the Roaring Twenties through cinematic sets, an original score by Carl Davis, and dramatic choreography by Jorden Morris. Experience the decadence of history’s most carefree decade as F. Scott Fitzgerald’s great American novel unfolds through dance.

  • Returning to the home of its 1997 inception for the first time in a decade, Colorado Ballet presents Christopher Wheeldon’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, March 6–15, 2026. Our dancers of today breathe fresh, new character into this iconic work which Colorado Ballet originally commissioned Wheeldon to create on the company. Shakespeare’s comical play comes to life alongside Felix Mendelssohn’s score performed by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra.
  • MasterWorks, Colorado Ballet’s annual repertory production, returns April 10–19, 2026 with a captivating trio of powerhouse masterpieces that put artistic excellence and innovation on full display— The Rite of Spring by Glen Tetley, the world premiere of a new work by Yoshihisa Arai commissioned by Colorado Ballet, and a third work yet to be announced.

Colorado Ballet is grateful for the generous support it receives from the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) and PNC Bank.
