Colorado Ballet Opens 65th Season with Cult Favorite Dracula at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, Oct. 3-12, 2025
Denver, CO (August 22, 2025) – Colorado Ballet proudly commences its 65th season with the return of Dracula, opening at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House.
First created in 1996 for the Northern Ballet Theatre in the U.K. and featuring captivating choreography by Michael Pink, this frighteningly fascinating ballet brings Bram Stoker’s legendary gothic novel to life, complete with Victorian-style sets and costumes, seductive vampires, a Corps de Ballet of the “undead,” and Philip Feeney’s original score performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra.
“The level of passion our patrons show each time we bring Dracula back to Denver is incredible, and our dancers love performing this ballet as much as people enjoy watching it” stated Artistic Director Gil Boggs. “The last time we presented this production in 2022, performances sold out before we even opened, and we’re looking forward to another sold-out run this season. This is the third time we’ll have live vocalists join us from the Evans Choir, led by Colorado Ballet Orchestra Associate Conductor, Catherine Sailer. We were actually the first company to introduce a live choir to the production, and it really adds to the haunting quality of the ballet,” continued Boggs.
"On a lighter note, this season our dancers will look forward to performing on brand new recently-installed Harlequin Liberty Switch floor system at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House,” stated Boggs. Colorado Ballet is proud to be the first U.S. company to install this innovative technology that seamlessly shifts from rigid to sprung at the touch of a button. “We are grateful to the city of Denver for their investment in this floor,” he concluded. “This season, we’re amping up the excitement around the theatrical elements that make Dracula so timelessly intriguing. We’re introducing a new VIP Box Experience and encouraging audience participation in sartorial expression with a Vampire Ball on October 12 — come dressed in your finest vampire best!” declared Executive Director Sameed Afghani.
Tickets to Dracula are already selling quickly, and Colorado Ballet anticipates that performances will sell out again this season. For the best availability, purchase tickets today at COLORADOBALLET.ORG/DRACULA. Colorado Ballet’s 2025/2026 promo video for Dracula is available to view online.
