Colorado Ballet Academy students in Levels 1 through the Pre-Professional Division have the unique opportunity to participate in our annual, full-length classical ballet production at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in May. Each class will perform original and adapted choreography suited for their level in classical ballets such as Swan Lake, Coppélia, and Giselle. The experience of being a part of a large-scale production gives students countless lifelong skills and a sense of accomplishment and comradery, along with the thrill of telling a story through dance.

Students are invited to Ballet Level 2 once they have demonstrated full understanding of the concepts covered in Ballet 1. Body alignment, muscle awareness, and focus most heavily impact progress in ballet technique. Ballet Level 2 students explore expanded skills in the fundamentals of ballet technique, proper body alignment, French terminology, musicality, and imaginative artistry while increasing movement, strength, and flexibility. Second year Ballet Level 2 students add Conditioning to their curriculum to enhance muscle awareness and core strength.
Level 2 Tap is required for students in Level 2. Students will be introduced to tap technique and terminology as they build their skills in musicality, sound clarity, speed, and style. Tappers can expect to learn double and triple time steps, 3 & 5 beat riffs, turns, and intricate rhythms. This fun and immersive class helps students become more well-rounded as they continue along their dance journey. All Tap classes culminate with a showcase performance in May.
